Which paddle model to choose?

Each of the paddles is meant for some specific disciplines of SUP sport. Just decide, whether you are seeing yourself in a race, tour or just having fun on the water.

What blade size do I need?

First of all - there is just simple physical relation between paddle size and stroke power. But there are small details to keep in mind. If you are participating in technical races or even marathons, you need a larger blade to improve the power effort effectiveness. But this requires additional physical power too.

Secondly - for sprint races it is essential to select a smaller blade, to gain quicker acceleration. But be careful! Too small blade reduces the total propulsive effectiveness.

Last but not least - design. Your muscular power, reach and other physical properties lead you to the correct choice of size. Big guys and girls take big blades, small guys and girls take small blades, etc.

How long should be my paddle?

There is no exact formula for these settings, as the SUP paddling techniques and physiometrics of people vary from one to another.
But there are good ways to start finding your preferred length by setting some length to try it out and make some adjustments if needed.
We would recommend starting with:

  • For racing - the paddle length is 15 - 25 cm (6 - 10 in) above your head

  • For surfing or recreation - 10 - 18 cm (4 - 7 in) above your head

But bear in mind - these are dimensions just to start with!
